Cannabis Server Training: The CannSell Online Program

CannSell is an online training program that provides responsible cannabis sales training.

CannSell is designed to help cannabis be sold and handled safely, in compliance with the NWT Cannabis Act and Regulations, and to reduce risks to the public and retailers.

What will I learn in the CannSell training?

The CannSell training is designed to help cannabis retailers and their staff:

  • understand and follow the NWT Cannabis Act and Regulations;
  • identify and refuse sales to minors or impaired customers;
  • promote responsible cannabis sales and community safety;
  • understand the effects of cannabis and recognize impairment; and
  • maintain accurate records and comply with inspection requirements.

Participants who complete the CannSell training will learn about:

  • the roles and responsibilities of cannabis retailers and employees;
  • legal obligations and liabilities under the Cannabis Act and Regulations;
  • the impact of cannabis on the body and behaviour;
  • how to refuse or delay sales safely and appropriately; and
  • inspection procedures and enforcement expectations.

Who can take the CannSell training?

The CannSell Online Training is available free of charge and open to:

  • cannabis retail owners, managers, and employees; and
  • anyone interested in learning about the laws and responsibilities related to cannabis sales in the Northwest Territories.

Completion of the CannSell program will eventually become a requirement for all cannabis retail vendors and their staff under the Cannabis Retail Vendor Handbook.
