Information Security

The Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) play a lead hand in ensuring our information resources are safe and secure though the development of policies, standards and programs that protect sensitive and personal information.

Within the OCIO, the Information Security Team provide guidance and support to help securely deliver government programs.    We promote a risk based approach to information security and review programs, plans and processes to assist government in appropriately managing the risks to the confidentiality, integrity and availability of information collected from the public, to serve the public. The information security team support the OCIO’s responsibilities of developing security policy, architecture and standards and provide specialist consulting to strategic government projects and service innovation initiatives.

The team also provides information security awareness on best practices, emerging trends and cyber threats to ensure government’s policies, architecture and standards appropriately address current and emerging risks to help departments supporting them in their duties.

For departments we also play an advisory role on information security incident handling and any investigations or forensics needed to ensure they are properly handled and understand our enterprise risks.
