Introducing the new GlobalProtect VPN
Search Resources for Evacuated GNWT Employees
Here you can find information to both prepare you for the transition to the TSC’s new GlobalProtect Virtual Private Network (VPN) software and guide you through the steps to use it successfully.
What is changing?
- GlobalProtect will replace the Avaya VPN. This change will help address performance issues due to capacity limitations with the old VPN and improve user experience by replacing the current tool with a more up-to-date one that can now be used on Macs
- All GNWT employees will be given VPN access
What to expect
GlobalProtect can be installed alongside the existing VPN. However, only one VPN can be used at any one time. While the Avaya VPN will be available for the next few months, we recommend you start using GlobalProtect now.
When (and when not) to use the VPN
If you are working in your office or within a GNWT building you don’t need to use the VPN; VPN is only needed if you are working remotely.
When working remotely you will need a computer, an internet connection, and a VPN account. This computer could be your GNWT laptop/tablet or a personal home computer.
So, when do you need to use the VPN?

GNWT laptops/tablets
If you have not used the TSC’s VPN service before and have a GNWT laptop/tablet, you now have VPN access. You will need to connect to the Avaya VPN to have GlobalProtect automatically installed on your computer.
If you have been using the Avaya VPN, the TSC will be installing the new VPN automatically on your computer.
You will receive a TSC Alert with more details on this change.
When your GNWT laptop/tablet has received the new GlobalProtect VPN you will see a popup in the bottom right corner of your taskbar along with a new icon.
Get started:
Personal home computer (Windows and Mac)
Anyone using a personal home computer can begin connecting to the new VPN immediately.
Get started:
