This Policy was revised for consistency with the generally accepted accounting and controls
for all public property including disposal and loss of assets. Where relevant directives have
been replaced, removed for redundancy, or added to align with current standards and best
practice. In addition the Policy provides new direction on intangible assets. Appendix A and B
have been included to provide examples of intangible assets and controllable assets
considered insurable and reportable by the Government.
Approval of this Policy is within the scope of powers and duties entrusted to the
Comptroller General in accordance with Section 12(2) of the Financial Administration Act and
FAM Policy 1042, Directive 4.4.
