As of March 2014, the Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) has fully implemented Financial Shared Services (FSS) centers across the Northwest Territories. The establishment of the FSS will enable standardized services in a way that is compliant with GNWT policies and make financial processing activities more efficient, effective, and consistent.
The FSS division provides financial transaction processing services on behalf of all GNWT Departments and the Northwest Territories Housing Corporation.
FSS offers the following services to suppliers of goods and services (vendors) and those submitting payment to a GNWT Department and the NWT Housing Corporation (customers).
Services for Vendors:
- Vendor set up and updates
- Accounts Payable
- Receive invoices
- Process invoices
- Issue payments
Services for Customers:
- Customer set up and updates
- Accounts Receivable
- Issues Invoices for services
- Collect payments
- Cashier for receiving customer payments
Direct Deposit services:
Services for GNWT Departments and NWT Housing Corporation:
The following services are only provided to GNWT Department and NWT Housing Corporation employees:
- Travel Authorization and Expense transactions
- Accounts Payable and Receivable Journal entries
- General Ledger
- Financial reporting
