NWT Carbon Pricing Engagement

As a signatory to the Pan-Canadian Framework on Clean Growth and Climate Change, the Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) has agreed to the federal proposal for a national carbon price.

The GNWT’s key objective in honouring its commitment to the national carbon pricing is to implement a carbon tax in the Northwest Territories in such a way that it encourages carbon conservation and substitution to reduce greenhouse gas emissions while minimizing the effect on the local cost of living or creating additional barriers to economic development.

As part of considering how best to implement carbon pricing, the GNWT is providing a number of specific questions list below, but also is also providing you the opportunity to provide any general comments on carbon pricing at the end of the survey.
