What we do

The Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) serves as the Government of the Northwest Territories’ (GNWT) senior authority related to Information Management and Technology (IMT).

Some of our work

  • advising Deputy Ministers on IMT strategy and policy matters and ensuring that strategy and policy implementation is undertaken within the GNWT in a timely and consistent manner;

  • working with stakeholders to ensure that IMT investments, assets, and operations support the business goals of the GNWT in an effective, efficient and economical manner;

  • providing day-to-day guidance to all stakeholders regarding IMT strategy, security and policy implementation; and

  • representing Northern interests on Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) and Broadband related matters.
